i'm exhausted.. but on the looong journey back from jurong east after studyin with a bunch of *ahems* laughin their guts out next to me, reflected on certain stuff.. along with the reminder given by the 'idiot' bout a certain article happily shown to me one morning a few days back.

Mrs Meya finished covering Othello.. the tragedy was indeed, a dampener before break... with the occasional injections of humour with 'liest' pronounced as 'leest'.. or somethin to that extent.. no offence.. and a whining 'guy' about his given role.. thought of as 'quibbling'.. HAHA... well, hu's the 'ostracised [him]bo now'? i'd suggest u look before tryin to 'impress' others with ur skewed opinions..

anyway, was thinking through the main line of the play... "Love not wisely, but too well"... in truth, is there such a thing as loving wisely? love in itself is an irrational thing.. one cant help but fall in love can they? if i were to be asked, why i love you, there are tens of thousands of reasons.. character, personality etc etc.. but when one delves into it further, aren't there at least another with the same attributes? why you then? well.. it's that 'thing' isn't it? that unexplainable thing.. is that rationale then? food for thought...

Also, just had my first vibrant conversation with the 'idiot'.. :P he raised somethin which i had totally forgot to discuss in the midst of my distress.. the artcle a few days ago about IJ girls being labellled as "easy going" toward the opposite gender. As an IJ girl of 10 years, i beg to differ. I'm proud of my IJ heritage and shall ever hold my head high when my school or any of my sister schools are mentioned. But why deface the IJ reputation like so? undeniably, there would be some black sheep among us, but generally, though less exposed than that of the mixed schools, values though to us in our schools have kept us more chaste, might i boldy mention, than most other schools. The IJ image is constantly drilled into us and we are known in history as the 'good' girls. The IJ image was that of a compassionate lady who lives by the school motto of "simple in virtue, steadfast in duty". I've seen these words everyday for 10 years of my life, and they have left an indelible mark. I'll protect the repute of my school and question what rights has the reporter to generalise? to stereotype? furthermore, knowing that their work is to be published, accessed, and criticise, why provide such superficial statements that have obviously not been thought through and ruin the repute of a famed family of schools at the risk of the obvious consequences?

feel like i should post this.. Hymn to Father Barre (from my memories of my good old days in CHIJ)
O hear our prayer
Most holy father Barre
We are you children
watch o'er us we pray
touch many hearts
to follow in your footsteps
to dedicate
their lives to youth and poor
drawn by the Lord
to make Christ known and loved
fille us with zeal
humility
and faith
Pure love and strength
and courage without fear
to keep your spirit alive in our hearts
to keep your spirit alive in our hearts

i hope i got it right.. unsure about the spelling for the French version so yeah.. but it's a lovely song that still rings in my mind.. i miss my IJ days and won't give it up for the world. Thank you CHIJ for having blessed me with a wonderful, fulfilling childhood. I hope the journalist apologises for having maimed IJ's reputation.
